Chinese Numeral Converter
Convert numbers to Chinese uppercase/lowercase amounts with yuan/jiao/fen, negatives and decimals — zero merging and 整 suffix per accounting rules, ready for invoices.
>_ USAGE GUIDE
Contracts, invoices and expense forms require Chinese uppercase numerals (壹贰叁…) to deter tampering, and the rules have sharp edges: zero merging, the 整 suffix, zero-bridging before fen. This tool implements them per accounting practice — type an Arabic number and get uppercase and lowercase RMB amounts plus a plain-numeral reading, with negatives and decimals supported.
- Enter a number:
1234.56immediately renders as 壹仟贰佰叁拾肆元伍角陆分 - Switch case: uppercase for formal documents, lowercase for general writing (一千二百三十四元伍角陆分)
- Read the plain form: the same number in Chinese numerals without yuan/jiao/fen, for narrative text
- Copy out: both result panels offer one-click copy for direct pasting into forms
>_ FAQ
Q1 · When is 整 required?
When both jiao and fen are zero — an integral yuan amount — the result ends with 整 (or 正): 1050 → 壹仟零伍拾元整. If either jiao or fen is non-zero, no 整: 12.5 → 壹拾贰元伍角, and 12.05 → 壹拾贰元零伍分.
Q2 · How are zeros merged?
Consecutive zeros collapse into one, and across magnitude boundaries only one bridging zero appears when needed: 100200030 → 壹亿零贰拾万零叁拾. When yuan exists but jiao is absent while fen is present, a zero is bridged after yuan: 1.05 → 壹元零伍分 — the most commonly missed rule.
Q3 · How are negatives and decimals handled?
Negatives take a 负 prefix: -12.05 → 负壹拾贰元零伍分. In the amount mode decimals are rounded to fen (two places: jiao and fen); 0.05 → 零元零伍分, keeping the 零元 anchor rather than dropping it.
Q4 · Why is 10 yuan written 壹拾元 rather than 拾元?
The RMB uppercase standard mandates 壹拾 for 10–19 in amounts: a bare 拾 could be prefixed with another character to inflate the value (拾 → 陆拾). The tool applies the same discipline to lowercase amounts; plain-numeral readings already use the colloquial leading form (10 → 十).
Q5 · How large a number can be converted?
Up to 16 integer digits (through the 万亿 group, about 9 quadrillion), comfortably covering Number's safe integer range; larger input fails with a clear error instead of a wrong result. Everyday invoices and contract amounts sit well inside this range.
