Unit Converter
Real-time conversion across length, weight, temperature, volume, area, time, data and speed — temperature offset handled correctly.
>_ USAGE GUIDE
A real-time converter covering eleven categories of everyday units — length, weight, temperature, volume, area, time, data storage, speed, and more. Pick a category, enter a value, and every unit in the class converts at once. Temperature's non-linear offset conversion is handled properly, so there are no "just multiply by a factor" errors.
- Pick the category: length, weight, temperature, data, speed — whatever the task needs
- Enter the value: all sibling units update in real time
- Read or copy the answer: every unit listed side by side for comparison
Daily-life coverage is complete: recipe ounces to grams, renovation feet to meters, disk GB to TiB, and broadband Mbps to MB/s. Because every sibling unit updates together, one entry answers all the nearby questions at once — type a length in inches and centimeters, meters, and millimeters are already on screen, no second lookup needed. Everything computes locally in real time.
>_ FAQ
Q1 · How many centimeters is 1 inch?
Exactly 2.54 cm — a defined value, not an approximation; conversely 1 cm is about 0.3937 in. Useful anchors: a 6.7-inch phone screen spans roughly 17 cm diagonally, and A4 paper is 8.27 × 11.69 inches. Any other length conversion takes seconds in the length category here.
Q2 · What is the difference between Gb and GB — and why does a 1 TB drive show only 931 GB?
Case carries meaning: GB is gigabytes, Gb is gigabits, and 1 byte = 8 bits. That is why a "100M" broadband line (100 Mbps) downloads at roughly 12.5 MB/s — fast line, seemingly slow download. The drive discrepancy is a different issue: manufacturers compute 1 TB as 10^12 bytes while the OS reports 1 TiB = 2^40 bytes. Two conventions, not missing capacity.
Q3 · How do Celsius and Fahrenheit convert?
Formulas: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. Handy anchors: 0°C = 32°F (freezing), 37°C = 98.6°F (body temperature), 100°C = 212°F (boiling). Because temperature includes an offset, it cannot be converted by a bare multiplication factor — the tool handles the offset correctly, so just enter the value.
Q4 · How do kilograms and pounds convert?
1 kilogram = 2.2046 pounds (lb); 1 pound ≈ 453.6 g. Overseas shopping listings use pounds, fitness plans use kilograms — pick the weight category, enter the value, and both directions convert instantly. (Note: the Chinese jin, 500 g, is not among the built-in units — convert kg to grams first and divide by 500 if you need it.)
Q5 · How do Mbps and MB/s correspond?
1 MB/s = 8 Mbps — the bytes-versus-bits factor of 8, minus protocol overhead in practice. Seeing 10–12 MB/s on a 100 Mbps line is perfectly normal. Convert and verify either direction using the data-storage and speed categories here.
