JSON Minifier
Collapse formatted JSON into a single line in one click — strip newlines and indentation for smaller payloads and easier pasting into logs or URLs; precise error locating.
>_ USAGE GUIDE
Paste a pretty-printed JSON — with its indentation and line breaks — into the input, click Minify, and every newline and indent is stripped into a single compact line: smaller to store, easier to paste into logs, URL query strings, or database fields.
Minifying is not just deleting whitespace: the tool also validates the JSON as it compresses. If the content has a syntax error — a missing bracket, an extra comma, an unquoted string — it pinpoints the offending line and column rather than letting you discover a broken payload later.
- Paste your JSON: a formatted document you want to shrink
- Minify: click Minify to produce the single-line compact form
- Fix flagged errors: if validation fails, jump to the reported line and column and correct the nearby characters
- Sample it first: unsure of the flow? Load the sample to see minifying in action
Everything runs in your browser: content is never uploaded, so JSON containing keys or user data is safe to process. To read the compact output again, hand it to the JSON Formatter tool to expand it back with indentation in one click.
>_ FAQ
Q1 · What is the difference between formatting and minifying JSON?
Formatting expands JSON with indentation and one key-value pair per line so humans can read and debug it; minifying strips all whitespace and line breaks into one compact line, reducing size for config files, API payloads, logs, and database fields. Read in formatted form; transmit and store in minified form.
Q2 · Does minifying change the data at all?
No. Minifying removes only the structural whitespace and newlines between keys, values, and brackets. Key names, values, and the text inside strings are left untouched, so the parsed structure before and after is identical — safe for production payloads.
Q3 · Will minifying break whitespace inside my strings?
No. Whitespace and newlines inside string values are part of the data and are preserved verbatim. The tool removes only structural blank space such as indentation between elements, never content inside quotes, so string values never get corrupted.
Q4 · How do I read a minified JSON again?
Paste the compact line back into this tool (or the JSON Formatter tool) and expand it into an indented form in one click. Formatting and minifying are inverses of each other and both are instant, so the round trip loses nothing.
Q5 · What if validation fails while I minify?
Minifying runs a validity check first; on failure it reports the exact line and column and highlights nearby characters. Common causes are a trailing comma, an unquoted string, or an unescaped newline inside a value. Fix that spot and minify again to pass.
